  1. I learned that the serpent mound is located in Athens, Ohio, it is a effigy mound that are different types of mounds created by native americans which represented different animals. I thought that there were only serpent mounds and mounds depicting the lunar cycles and eclipses. I really liked the comparison to other ancient structures. I never knew that there were other burial mounds within Ohio. I believe that the strongest part of this presentation is when you asked the class why is it important? These definitely are intriguing monuments that are begging the question of why?

Areas to improve on would include not saying um so much in your presentation as well as the use of filler sounds and words. I know its hard to not do this when you are thinking but, a lot of practice helps prevent this and definitely adds strength to your argument. I think this made the overall rhetoric of the presentation seem un-polished regardless of whether you practiced or not.

  2. I really enjoyed the connection to other landmarks from other countries. I think this made me realize as well that here in the United States, we do not have all types of ancient culture landmarks. We have very few, and so recognizing and respecting the ones we do have is very essential. I believe the best part for me was the conclusion because of all the connections made.

Overall the presentation was great, I do think that some words on the slides could have been beneficial. Maybe just a couple of main points to look at and refer too.

  3. I really enjoyed your guys' presentation! I learned a lot that I never knew before, I always knew the this was in Ohio and wanted to know more about it orgins but never did. Your guys' presentation was laid out very well and I enjoyed the fact that you went through a bunch of landmarks that everyone knew and then the ones in Ohio that no one really knew about, it put it into perspective for me the cool stuff that we do have here and why its so important! Your arguements were very strong.

Overall it was great but something that could have been worked on was sharing more of the speaking and not just split it up into two parts, it would have made the arguments you guys had more stronger to have two opinions!

  4. I thought you guys did great!! I learned so much. I never knew anything about the Serpent Mounds. I thought the presentation was very engaging and I liked how you guys made us apart of it. I think that is amazing that we have something like this in Ohio. I definitely would like to visit in the future.

Next time I would suggest that the parts be broken up more. It seemed like Dillan did a lot more talking.

    Good Job Guys!

  6. Nice presentation, the guessing game for historical sites was effective for engaging the audience but also solidifying the thesis.

I did get confused somewhat in the middle, maybe just too much info at once for me.

  7. I really like this project, I think you did a great job of understanding the area and you answered every question without hesitation so it lead me to believe you guys did a lot of research for this, the only bad this is the way you presented it I would've liked to see Kristen in it more

  9. I liked the way you used pictures to show all of the other ancient structures that people can easily name, but not many people recognize the Serpent Mound. One thing that could have been improved is the eye contact, I think that you were sometimes looking at your notes too much, rather than the audience.

  10. Your visuals were great and you seemed to do quite a bit of research on the subject. Overall the presentation was good but more back and forth would have been good!
